If you are in Delhi for a visit, we would recommend you not to miss Qutub Minar. If you are planning to visit Agra (Taj Mahal) you can skip Red Fort in Delhi because you can visit Agra Fort, the grander version of Red Fort. Other places of interest in Delhi include Jama Masjid (the biggest mosque in India), Raj Ghat (Mahatma Ghandi memorial), Chandni Chowk, India Gate and several more.
Qutub Minar
Qutub Minar marks the arrival and the rise of Islam in India.
(Bottled drinks at the entrance gate. Nampak menarik tapi tak berani nak minum) |
Alai Minar the incomplete stone pillar in the Qutub Minar complex
Iltutmish Tomb
Before visiting Qutub Minar Complex, we visited several places of interest in the "Old" Delhi and then the "New" Delhi.
Jama Masjid.. you have to pay camera fee to bring one inside the mosque. As most of the mosque area is an open space area, it is a good idea to bring prayer mat along if you going to perform prayer such as friday's prayer.
Going around the Chandni Chowk market area with "Tut-tut". Began and finished the "tut-tut" exploring from the Jama Masjid Gate No. 3. Rs200 per "tut-tut" for about 1 to 2 hours round.
(Gurudwara Sis Ganj Sahib) |
Ghandi's Memorial..
India Gate..
Secretariat Buildings (Central Secretariat) .. housing the cabinet secretariat, which administers the government of India
Almost identical building construct, on the left and the right of the main entrance road..
Sarojini Nagar market (much better market place to us if compared to Chandni Chowk)
The famous Karim's restaurant Delhi. Famous for beryani (however, taste wise, we would give more star ratings for the beryani in Lucknow).
This Karim's Restaurant was not ready for lunch when we arrived.
Finished our of Tour of India, back to the hotel. Parting photos with our driver, Sunir. Been with us to drive us all around (all through out the journey except for Lucknow and the last day in Jodhpur as he needed to be back in Delhi to pick us up at the airport when we arrived for Jodhpur)
