Jun 2015 - Perancangan Percutian Keluarga ke Eropah Timur (Vacation Planning to East Europe)

Scroll down for ENGLISH version

ENGLISH VERSION

Like our previous vacation plannings, the first thing we asked ourselves was "When?". This is easy for us because we normally choose the timing during school breaks.

Secondly, "Where?" - The idea came with those places we have not visited and also by "googling" websites such as this one:-

20 awe-inspiring places

This year, after Japan's trip in April, we chose East Europe as our family vacation destination.

Google map sets the "blue-print" for our planning... (note : Dubrovnik, the original plan was diverted to Mostar during the vacation)

This first thing we finalised was the flight tickets which will set our vacation "start" and "end" dates.

And then, we will start purchasing our accommodations through out the trip. Our "base" vacation plan is set when all the required accommodations has been fixed/purchased. We will then start "fine tuning" the specific places that we wish to visit and start looking at other things such as transport, car rental, travel insurance etc.

Our almost finalised "Vacation plan" sheet will look something like this. This time it involved 4 countries in the Eastern Europe (Hungary, Austria, Croatia dan Bosnia Hezegovina, crossing Slovenia).

There could be last minutes changes, especially the specific places we want to visit and also changes during the vacation itself (like the diversion of Dubrovnik to Mostar)

As usual, we will take advantage of our WorldVentures club membership which privileges gave us, Emirates, the most competitive air-tickets we could find for this vacation.

How do we know it is the most competitive?

We always try to challenge the guarantee given by our club, "price pledge" by comparing the price offer with those provided by other booking websites available online, offers during travel fairs like the Matta Fair and also price offer by the airlines company itself. We were "unsuccessful" in our bid this time because we could not find anywhere else more competitive than the one we had got from our club.

On top of getting the most competitive price offers, some of our the accommodations we had booked from our booking website were "FREE" as they were paid for by "Rovia Bucks", the dollars we earned from our previous vacations. Roughly, it works something like fuel card membership where you earn free fuel by becoming a member and patronising the fuel station whenever you fill up fuel for your car.

  2. In RM, the return flight for 4 pax is about 10K and about 3K accommodations (consisting 5 fully equipped apartments, 1 homestay and 2 family room hotels) for the whole duration (16 nights).

Per person is about 6.2K, but this include everything (flights, accommodations, trains tickets, transport passes, car rental, entrance passes, groceries etc including gift shopping as well).
